Kevin was a writer too and he liked to write novel, they started to talk each other, and Dana didn't have enough money to eat so Kevin bought some food for her.
The novel started when a boy was in the river, with his mom and Dana a black lady that had moved to love in los Angeles with her husband Kevin, they were in their apartment and she got dizzy and her mind went to the river, where was a boy with his mom, the boy was droning into the water and that moment Dana took the boy who his name was Rufus, and took him out the water, and began to mouth resuscitation.  Rufus began breathing on his own

Later on Dana was in he apartment with Kevin and she got dizzy, and was transported to the south where Rufus, had had fallen from a tree and his leg was broken. While she was taking care of Rufus, Tom Weylin came was Rufus's father, a white and rude and cruel man. Rufus was like his father, a white and selfish that only wanted to have slave an retained them as a slave.
