When we start any project as a simple as it appears, we noticed that maybe we won't do it. We feel afraid to everything new, it is normal, but a soon we learn and follow the instructions little by little we getting in to.
When I started this course I didn't know where I was going, with all of this papers and projects, the word blog was new for me. Instead blog  I used the e-  portfolio, it was very interesting too.
The first blog was simple and I followed the instructions, but nothing yet in my brain, I did it because I had to. The blog  was simple and I was asking many questions to my friend who was sitting next to me.

The blogs have been different all of them, the second was better than the first and so on. Reviewing all my blogs entries, I like what I have done.  It is a reflection  of what  I have learned at La Guardia, specially in my class Eng, 102.The first ones was very simple, but this is done with more conscience, love,  experience, dedication and the most important things is kind of reflection of myself, how after the a long class and doing a lot of thing, now I can sitting down and looking back and to continue thinking ahead.  However I still have  a lot thing to learn, I have a big problem writing in English that I have tried for many times and each time I felt more frustrated about this language,  I will continue trying to write better.  All the blogs are very interesting, are described poetry, narrative and drama that were the topics of the class, we used books, ideas and opinions.

Read and write is very interesting, because we improve our knowledge about everything, authors, speakers, characters.  Also about work citation, and to understand whatever the read is about.
I mentioned before that I have experience  writing through the Internet, preparing the work for  e-  portfolio, but was different experience. Really it was  the first time that I have had a class writing online and for me was the best, not only for all facilities that we have "today" about technology everything is the Web, It  helps us to lean more and how to use all of this facilities.

It is filled with lot of information, but the most important thing that I have to say is that I Thank to my excellent teacher Dr. Ximena Gallardo, who encourage me and all my classmate to approach all her ideas, to connect us through the world technology, and use it in her class. I have improved the use of Microsoft and other tools, so we can connect with all my classmates' activities and learn more from them.  Thank  Dr. Gallardo, for you  dedication, time and patience  for giving us all your knowledge,  that make us to continue  reaching our goals.

Today I feel better and more confidence and  proud of myself. After a hard  day I look back and see  all my work and this blog  Class Reflection.  Now I want to finish my semester and my Associated in few months.  Thank again and to all my classmates  good luck in their future.

REFLECTION

  http://www.shakespeareflix.org/2010/03/summary-of-much-ado-about-nothing-32-41.html

Personally, writing about drama  through the semester  was a experience more, very important in my life. Much Ado about Nothing, showed us one more time the capacity of the most greatest poet  William Shakespeare. All his works  has been admired and were collected and printed in various editions

I think that I'm proud of having this class. because I have the opportunity to know more about Shakespeare and all his beautiful work. I didn't chose one specific blog, I choose this play or comedy, because we  can find all combinations of elements, humor, shame, love and politic. It was a  joyful comedy that ends with multiple marriages and no deaths.
Althought one of the characteristics of Shakespeare comedy is no one die, but also he considered the death as a part of life and  in Much Ado about Nothing Hero has to pretend to die of humiliation makes die and making the comedy very strong sense of anger.

The unmasking ceremony was a party where everybody was pretending being mistaken for  other people.  In the play much Ado About Nothing, we see famous examples who played somebody's personalities or characters. Margaret who is mistaken Hero, Beatrice  was looking for Benedick's mask, but Benedick was masked man who turns out to be Benedick himself. He wanted Beatrice and he wanted to appear as a real life in the play, he was in love Beatrice and he wanted to show that in the play.  They were unmasked, because they wanted to conserve their identities in certain way.  They love each other,so they didn't pretend other character just being  themselves.

Also Hero has symbolically die and be reborn, pure again for Claudio to marry her a second time . Hero's false death is a symbol to convince and take out the rumors in Claudio that it is a social ritual to cleanse her name as person and her infamy.

After everything was cleared and Claudio believed  Hero's innocence, everybody was happy and its play had a "happy ending"  both both couples, Hero recovered her dignity and reputation and Benedick and Beatrice declared their love.

Romances Shakespeare's Society

According to Shakespeare's society. the men had the entire assumption of superiority, they have a control over the women, and as a traditional families in the Shakespeare's time, the women had to obey to the men and they were to be disposed to stay in home and attend their husband. The men looked the women as a their properties and they have to do whatever the men wanted..
Beatrice and Benedick were of couple of the play.  they treatment called the attention in  that time, because was considered challenger in that time were the women were very traditional wives and following all their husbands orders, because it was a patriarchal society.
The people were interesting in this kind of plays; the behaviors in these relationship between men and woman called the popularity.  The society in general in the Shakespeare' society was very patriarchal and one thing different at the routine was viewed with attention, as a Benedick and Beatrice romance.

Benedick of Padua was Don Pedro's companion. He never married , but he falls in love at Beatrice, and he swears that he will never marry. He was called "courtier" that means attending on the prince

In Much Ado About Nothing Shakespeare's society  all men in the  play thing that women have to have all virtues as purity, virginity, class, noble to be property of them.

Really this is my favorite blog about the slavery. These representations I wanted to put in my anterior blogs, because  we have many materials and all of them very significances about the novel that Octavia Butler, in her narrative recreation of slavery, has shown the life during the slavery in the life in general, in the plantations and dedicated her novel to teach us about African American slavery.

We  were witness of the abuse, the power and traditional gender roles, mysterious and how the African American Women suffered in that time being slave.

The blog that I'm not to proud, but that impressed me was when Dana being good educated black, strong woman was obligated to go and see the life in the plantations and slavery, how the kids were taking out from their mother and sell them and send to other place, where they had another master and exposed to the abuses, cruelty, ignorance, limitations and have to server to white man only because he was white and other was his slave, or because he was a "nigger"that they usually call them. Also another act of repudiation was when the slaves where whipped, insulted, slapped in special the women were treated as animals.

All of them  accepted the situation because they didn't have another choice, they didn't receive any education. The slaves were victim of that kind of abuses from their masters and the system itself. Verbal abuses, psychology, emotional, fiscal and the most cruel daily brutal act,  was taking the kids from the their mothers and send them to another plantations.

I consider that we have learned many things reading this fiction novel. The way how we were encouraged by you,  to read and enjoy each act, in natural way that you did. Also to think about how many slaves are now in our society, that they are treated with crudely  and terror. Maybe we are slave, but in different ways, it is another time,  and other circumstances, but we have systems that we are absorbed us and some people are abused by their "masters".

I learned also from my classmate that they are very smart and all of them did a excellent job, each other understand the concept of the novel and the massages that Octavia Butler wanted to transmit through the story.and how she developed and put the right characters to play the life as salve.
The slaver systems have been managements and controlled by white people who, through the abuse or tyranny, oppression have specially black people to work for them, for a few benefits or in very difficult way of live, also the relations interracial es that we can notice in this novel. Kindred was a great opportunity that Octavia Butler showed us all the contrasts of life in the plantations and the differences of cultures, the ignorance of all slaves.

The abuse, degradation, humiliation, they were to whipping for so little or without reason, all of the salves were expose a all kind of abuses.  The women had to give their kids to the master and be sold.  All of this things made the Kindred a spectacular novel in 1979 when was its first publication.

Looking back at Kindred
Dana, Alice and Sarah

                               http://lesasbookcritiques.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

1.  Like Butler's mother, Sarah, Alice and Dana are forced to endure constant exploitation an degradation to survive and to allow others to survive. Taking Fowler's definition of heroins into account.

Dana was a strong  and educated e independent black woman, who got married with white men, it was unusual couple in1976, and less acceptable in1819.
When she thought that she had everything, appeared Rufus in her life and pulled her to the past to protect his life. She was obligated to see the horrors of living and being a slave, being Rufus's obsessive way to treat her. But Dana had the encourage to see the worst life and the slavery world.
She was whipped, slapped, insulted and humiliated, she was treated like a real slave. But she resisted everything with dignity and face the felt compassion for all the people who lived around her, how they were treated, and forced to live in slavery. Dana felt great pain for the slaves, not because they were salves and black, also because they are human beings.

Also when Dana was in the Weylin's house she knew Alice, Sarah and they were living in the Tom Weylin house. Sarah was who thought  Dana to cook, gave some advances about how work in the plantations. She show her the real face of being slave, how hard was living in the slavery fields, how the kids were separated from their mother to be sold by masters, how the families were spread out and how they lived accepting the kind of life. Sarah had good hard and convinces Dana not kill Rufus, she is very sweet and compassionate woman. Her daughter  Carrie is mute, she lived with her because she can  be sold for her defect.

Alice was a Rufus's  Childhood friend, but he didn't want her as a friend,he wanted her his wife, but she got married with another slave his name was Isaac Jackson, and treated to run away with him, because Rufus didn't like him, so he wanted Alice too,but they were caught, and Rufus sent Isaac to the South and Alice was bought by him, she was forced to be a slave, Rufus was obsessive with her, and wanted her to do whatever he wanted, she have only affection.  She has four kids with him,and this is the power she has over him but she wanted to run away, he was angry and sent the kids away, and made her feel very bad the kids well be sold, she was deeply but he children were near. Rufus made this to Alice because she looked to Dana  and he was obsessive with one of his ancestors specially with Dana. Alice was beat, raped and mentally and psychologically and degraded by her master.

Butler put in his novel to this three ladies, Sarah, Alice and Dana, to show how each one in their fields were heroins and great examples. As her self was obligated to work very hard since she was 10 years old in many jobs. All of this endured her after many years of sacrifices and built in her the characteristics of the hero.
The same way Butler described and made the novel as a example of putting in  Dana, Sarah, Alice's life as a sacrifices and showed how they became heroins.
Dana being a black woman educated, strong that was living in plantations and doing and being treated as never, Sarah as good mother  that with her sweeter love knew how to gain the Dana's love and working in the slavery with resignation and taking care of her mute daughter, and finally Alice was a victim of Rufus that he wanted to retain her and took her children. She loved her kids and had to support all of this.

Dana and Kevin  go back home, Dana has been away for two months, Kevin was for five years.During this period he traveled through the cities of the Northeast.  He worked as a teacher to survival, also he helped to slave to escape when he could.

When Dana returned, after she had had whipped by Tom Weylin, she met her cousin and and she thought that Kevin had abused of her,in that time was easy to think that because they were interracial couple and living in times of slavery the cousin assumes that Kevin as white man would talking possession of Dana for being black women, but this is a result for stay in the plantations, she was exposed to all kind of treatment and humiliations by the masters, they didn't' her because she as different at the rest of the slaves, that the masters could treatment as usual or according to them as their owner.

Dana had to pay a price for living in the plantations and find her past and her ancestors, living with Rufus, that was a selfish and white man that wanted that Dana was taking  care of him and he  called her whatever he had in trouble.

The most important in this novel was that, Butler made that Dana returned to the present, but no complete, after she had lived into the slavery and seeing all treatment that black  people were exposed, fighting with Rufus, and being wiped by Tom Weylin, she finally returned to present, but she left her own part there, she returned without her arm it was left behind, piece from her in stayed in the past.  She learned to live without her arm,  a sign that she became a slave.  She was obligate to lose her own essence.

3. Tom Weylin believes Dana is trouble.  In what ways is Dana dangerous to the way of life in the Weylin household?

Dana and Kevin met together and they started to work in a market it was called "slave market" She liked to write and she did until late at night.  Dana and Kevin worked together and their coworkers criticized them for be interracial couple. Kevin was a writer too and he liked to write novel, they started to talk each other, and Dana didn't have enough money to eat so Kevin bought some food for her.
The novel started when a boy was in the river, with his mom and Dana a black lady that had moved to love in los Angeles with her husband Kevin, they were in their apartment and she got dizzy and her mind went to the river, where was a boy with his mom, the boy was droning into the water and that moment Dana took the boy who his name was Rufus, and took him out the water, and began to mouth resuscitation.  Rufus began breathing on his own

Rufus's mother thought that Dana had had killed her son, and started yelling her and telling that her son was dying, so after a while Tom Weylin, was a Rufus's father appeared behind Dana and he points a gun at Dana, she thought that she was going to be shout for saving his son, she was terrifying.  In this moment Dana's life was in dangerous, she thought was to die, but when she thinks that her life is in dangerous, she got back to the normal life in her apartment.

Later on Dana was in he apartment with Kevin and she got dizzy, and was transported to the south where Rufus, had had fallen from a tree and his leg was broken. While she was taking care of Rufus, Tom Weylin came was Rufus's father, a white and rude and cruel man. Rufus was like his father, a white and selfish that only wanted to have slave an retained them as a slave. Dana and Kevin knew all family in the Weylin's house, Margaret, Rufus's mother, Sarah, Alice and other member of her ancestor.

Dana's life was in dangerous many times, while she lived in the Weylin's house, whatever Rufus's life was in dangerous, from the time when he was a child through a adulthood, foreign Dana rescue him.  Also when she was teaching to read at the kids in the plantations, she was exposed to be discover.  All in the plantations saw her different, because the way how to speaks and how she dress up, every body noticed that she couldn't be a slave.
